1 room down, 8 more to go! Well by the time I do the last room, I will  probably make a lot fewer mistakes. First time at wallpapering, flooring and ..... that damn window! I struggled and struggled, but got there in the end. If you look closely, you will probably see many mistakes peeping out at you, but hey, each of them tell a story and I am here to tell that story. All light fittings installed! Must start with the wallpaper now. Lights are hanging on lose as 1. I don't want to attached them to the wall before wallpapering and, 2. How high must a sconce be? I don't have one in my real house so I can't measure it. Anyone out there....... Help! Just measure yours in cm from the floor to the fitting please and pass on.

Electrifying stuff.

Spinxvongo House in Spinxdale - Electricity now reaching the 2nd floor. So far no connection problems (well thats 'cause I am working slowly). Tomorrow my first light fitting will be attached. This will be done from the floor above so the carpet can hide the wires. Super psyched.

Wiring... no backtrack a little.

Here I am - doing what I so anxiously waited for - the wiring of my dollhouse. And then! Kabam! I decided to make the bathroom something else, move the study, change the staircase.... aaaargh. I am the worst designer ever. Just can't decide and stick to something.

Doors....... Still doors

Sometimes I feel I am not getting anywhere with my doors. The paint I started using is not pure white so I will redo the first door; and I will have to wait with the hinges so that I can do the doorknobs first.

Once the hinges are on, you don't want to hammer and work on the door anymore as the hinges are very tiny and can break easy.

Oh well it's hurry up and wait I suppose. I have ordered the knobs, so let's hope they have in stock.

Hinges - say no more

Can one person be so stupid... hhhmmmm.... yes me! I had to get up to check my real house doors about 5 times just to see how a hinges fit. I also didn't know you need not file the door round like when you do a swing door. Yes... I am that one person. See pic at

Doors are just about done. Don't have hinges now but will put them on soon. I also still have to buy doorknobs. There goes my budget! Pics added to my SPINXVONGO page.

Getting there.

One more door to go and it's for certain that they are looking better and better as I go on. The question is, shall I redo my first ones? The front door will be done much later.

Getting easier to make the doors. It helps of course to have the right tools. Also, the frame and doors will be nothing without the eventual paint, shining, hinges and handles.

Doors

Well being stuck with somewhat uneven doors, I am going to have to create each door separately to ensure the frame is a good fit. Struggling without a place where I can get the correct wood, so I will make due with what I have until I can get to Gauteng. 7 doors here I come.

Thanx

It is a nice feeling to know that there is always someone who will extend a favour to you, no matter what. Due to circumstances I have missed 3 great mini workshops wherein we were to build a music room and some gadgets to decorate it like a floor.

On Saturday we completed the Spinet and today ... Sunday .... Maryna gave up her day to help me build my musicroom. 2 classes in one day!

Thank you Maryna ... now I am up to date. And I am going to tackle the chandeliers soon.

Music Room - the final stage ... well almost!

My music room is almost done. I am busy with the parquet floor but I have the feeling that I will be making a few idea-changes about the floors. So far the lightning is up and running but somewhat dark, although there are up to 10 bulbs burning. 

My chandelier (I only had the one and never made it to making my own), is now hanging in front of the fireplace, but if you are a 12 inch human ... that will not matter! I hope to post photos soon ...

Well at last my spinet is completed. 

This little old fashioned piano sports a painting of the painter John Constable named "The White Horse".

I enjoyed making this little piano and thank Maryna for all her patience and help!
